Best value shocks??

Post by Glenn J »

I'm after some shocks for my Mazda B2600. I do about 90% road driving and some light to medium offroading for hunting trips every so often but I need new shocks because the ones I've got now are too short because some clown wanted to lower it before I owned it. I don't want to spend a tonne of money. Ive got ranchos at the moment an I like how they ride so I'd like to stick to Rancho but if there's anything better or the same for less money I'd Be Keen.
I can get some Monroe Gas Magnums for over $300 for the pair and the Ranchos are a bit more and not sure about KYB's or anything

Stick with the Rancho's. I've had the one's in Mine for 13+ years and they're still sweet as. What are you paying for them?

I got quoted about $250 each for ranchos from 4wdbits and autolign never really gave me a figure.

Man there's heaps of brands I never even knew about. I'm still quite new to owning a 4x4 but ill make a few phone calls and see what I can come up with

$250 sounds like the basic rancho. have a yarn with 4wdbits they can get a lot of different brands.

theres hundreds of brands out there. just have a look at the USA sites, its mind boggling. if $$ is tight have a look if any USA or UK outfit has any for your wagon. when you see USA sites selling shocks for $24us (yes 24 not 240) it may be worth the shipping cost.

i have never had any issue with my raws. i don't find them too hard. They work well when the swaybars aren't connected. 250 for a rancho is a rip off. you can usually get them non trade from autolign in chch for 190.

$250 is about right.
If autolign in chch is doing them for 190, they're being naughty :?

Did a bit more ringing around and BNT does Raws for about $160 and Autolign Henderson does the Rancho 9000's for $220 and they dont get the 5000 series in anymore. I see mixed reviews in the Raws so I'm not too sure which will be the best option considering the $60 price difference. I'm leaning towards Rancho because I can't find much info on the Raw and I like the ones I currently got despite them being too short

I'm also in the market for new shocks (and everything else required for a 2" suspension lift), thru my forum trolling etc the ranchos seem to be pick of the bunch. Has any1 sourced truck parts from the states before? they are cheap cheap ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/RANCHO-RS5136-R ... _659wt_952 ) even shipping is cheap to n.z.
Opinions?

x2 I just put some Raws in my TJ and they seem fine, corners like it's on rails, flexes well offroad, usually let tires down a bit for offroad so haven't really noticed them being a harsh ride in the rough stuff $155 each from Autolign in Palmy North. Ask for Jaron, mention Greg with the Jeep.

my 2 cents
Yea, though I drive through the valley of death (and it's mudbogs), I shall fear no trail;for tho art modified is my rig, and thy lift kit and lockers they comfort me. Amen
