Hi chaps, got myself a sj ute gave it new clutch fuel pump ect
Trying to get back on the road again after 8 years in a shed.

Also one of the back wheels has sezed up after it was going fine, can't get the drum off the hub?
Any help would be great cheers

Re: Sj413 heater and brake trouble
does the heater fan work? checked the fuses?
most proborbly the heater is completely full of crap from the bonnet vent and blocked solid.
for the rear ,jack up , leave the wheel on , undo The 4 nuts that hold the drum on and user the wheel to help lever the drum off . or get an old rim and use a sledge.
the brakes have Jamed or the wheel bearing seized up

Re: Sj413 heater and brake trouble
Yea checked fuses, no nothing at happens when it's turned on
Sweet il have a look to see if it's blocked
Gave that a try already, is there any way to relive the pressure on the back drum? Tryed the adjuster on the inside didn't help
Cheers for that

Cant help with the heater for the rear I made up a pair of slide hammers at wk from scrap not pretty but did the biz, 1 for the drum and 1 for the axle.

Re: Sj413 heater and brake trouble
the drums on mine stick on everytime they get wet and I park up with the hadnbrake on. usually I can get it to come free the lazy way first, by low range reverse, poping the clutch then 1st and keep trying back and foward getting a rocking motion going with out draging the wheel usually works after a few atempts.
failing that I give the face of the drum a good dozen solid wacks directly over the area where the hub would be just like you would if trying to reove a drum ordinarly.
Failing that a couple times Ive had to Gently GENTLY tap the drum on the outer end where the shoes would contact. after tapping alot It finaly came free and cos I went soft on the taping it didnt warp or damage the drums.
Iv finaly learnt the hard way and now dont put the handbrake one till a few days after a dunking.
With the heater etc can you hear the fan working?
after checking if the intake is blocked,
if no heat is coming thru even when on heater check the tap is opening and closing when you turn on / off youll see the wire moving the tap.
could have a blocked heater core. a good flush saughts that out.
hope this helps.

Re: Sj413 heater and brake trouble
Sounds like the cable had been ripped before, some one tightened the remaining piece of h/b cable up again and what this does is then puts stress on the breaks and pulls them out of shape and place. They tend to rub up tight az inside the drum itself and after a wee while they seize on there almost like rust! I would say try find some second hand shit on trade me or spin a yarn on here see if any one has some spares for sale!
Also try adjusting the break itself using a flat head screw driver just give it a few turns to let some tension off! Could or could not work depending how far gone they are!

Re: Sj413 heater and brake trouble
I cld be wrong but isnt the handbrake on the back of the transfer case on the Sj's ie seperate from the rear diff?
