Building my first scud! Pics up now!

Thought i beter do a we thread on my scud build
Bought a 89 escudo four months ago, stock standed so have a clean slate to start on 8)

Plans so far

2inch body lift
3inch suspension lift
arb bullbar
9500lb winch
snorkel
rear locker
custom rear bar
guard chop
31x10.5x15 mud tyres

So far have 2inch body lift in and have done guard chop
Rest of parts are on the way :D

might need drop brackets for the front diff with the 3 inch lift to lessen the cv angles.what tyres are you looking at?

Im going to run achilles desert hawk just cos i am on a budget ( i am only 18 years old and am a apprentice sparky :roll: ) and i got them at a really good price, As for drop brackets i was not aware that the cv angles would be and issue?

You will be taking out and putting new cv's in every few weeks with the 3''

brackets are needed for sure, I had a 89 uki for my first project mate, best little trucks to learn from! She took me places no Toyota would go, but now in saying that I then went and bought a surf and chopped that! That was hella fun. Good luck with the build and get some pics up. 8)

Ill look into getting some brackets then, bet place to get them from? I have owned a few trucks before ( lexus v8 hilux, jeep wrangler, sj413 ) but have never built one up so am looking forward to it :D

if you want to do a 3 inch lift your best to get the kit they are cheap now and will have new arms longer swing arms driveshaft spacers and heim joint spacer and all the other bits you need

Yes i have a 3inch fts kit on the way, was going to go calmini but have heard a few bad things about them, plus mike at www.winch.co.nz is really good to deal with.

if its mikes kit, it should already have the drop bracket for the front diff in the kit.

Yes it is mikes kit and it dose come with the brackets :wink:

Was painted blue during the week :shock: and have lifted the fuel tank about 80mm today, Starting rear bar tomorrow and will put some pics up on sunday :mrgreen:

Fuel tank lift was quite easy to do, just had to take tank out, grind of mounts then drill new holes and bolt in, i am trying to upload photos but it says file is to big, any tips??

when uploading to photobucket you will see this screen

click on the customize your uploads link and you will get

Image

select 640x480
and then hit save
now every time you upload a photo to photo bucket it will resize each photo automatically

then u just copy and paste the image code

Looking good. Shaving the rear diff is well worth it. You'll gain a inch of clearance - The equivalant of running 33's on the rear.

Built front winch bumper this weekend, still need to wire winch up, also have put snorkel on 8)

Not much to report lately, lift kit has still not arrived, windows have been tinted 8) also bought some coby extractors, going to build new exhaust system, with 2inch pipe new muffler etc, pics to come :wink:

Lift kit arrived :D 90% in, rear locker in, bash plate on front bullbar done, still got to put battery in the rear but things are slowly coming along and its starting to look like a truck now :lol:
