I'm looking at buying one and have been looking at a few on trademe etc. I feel I need the space of a LBW (this will be a work wagon). But the SWB looks so much better, and there seems to be more around at cheaper prices.
Anybody got any coments about the merits of one or the other? Towing, access to rear seats, the ammount of crap you can fit in each etc.
Pros and cons of long and short Safaris.

Hi there, i have swb safari and i removed the rear seats, they were uncomfortable anyway for the passengers, now i can sleep in the back of it, theres plenty of room, if you have kids get a long wheel base. they are great machines , a bit heavy but strong and reliable, there a reason why 80% of winch challenge vehicles in nz and aus are safaris.
if you can find a turbo go for it, theres a good swb with a turbo and diff locks on trade me now.

SWB
I owned a SWB, and it was great, the later the year the better the back seats got, in my 88 they were pretty uncomfortable and had no leg room. But in my old mans 97 (old shape) there is much better leg room.
I used to have my backseats folded up basically the whole time and would just put them down if someone needed a lift. With the seats folded up or taken out there is heaps of room in the back, and the SWB tow bloody well, maybe not quite as well as a LWB but still better then most tow wagons on the market.
For 4wding the SWB deffinetly has the advantage but the LWB will deffinetly be more then capable with a lift and some nice tyres.
