93 Nissan Mistral Braking Problem

Post by Diffman »

Hi,

I have a 93 nissan mistral TD27 turbo diesel non abs. Having issues with brake pedal going right to the floor with the engine running. Have replaced pads and master cylinder and tried bleeding the system all different ways with no success. When engine is off pedal is all good, only when engine is running brake pedal travels to the floor.

When i clamped off the front brake hoses, i get a good strong hard pedal with the engine running.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

U've pretty much solved it yourself.
Problem is in fronts.
Try clamp only 1 side and compare (get a mate to remove clamps while you're holding down pedal to see how much it drops).
Most probably just need bleeding, but could also but calliper movement caused by worn disc surface (and new pad not worn to match).
Get a mate to help you carefully bleed brakes up, see how it goes from there.

Most important tho, how does it feel going down road?
It can be surprising how a terrible feeling pedal can still stop the vehicle easy, and not feel bad due to low pedal force.
