bleeding issues using vacuum bleeder.

Post by jonossiksilvia »

hi all

as u all know if had issues with my brakes on my surf. seems never ending

so anyway i brought this kit to bleed the brakes http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 199941.htm

works great does what its meant to but i have these problems

after ages bleeding 1 wheel (same for all of them) i cant get all the air out, just non stop bubbles and fluid mix. there is no leaks in the system as when i have the engine running and both feet on brakes no signs of fluid anywhere and pedal doesnt move either.

also notice it still sucks air even when bleeders are closed

so i guess my problem is its sucking air through the bleeders thread while im trying to bleed, is causing the never ending fluid and air mix.

what have others done to stop this to get proper results using a vacuum bleeder

cheers

That's what mine does also...air in around the threads
I just rely on the fact a good amount of fluid has come thru and while its sucking I lock off the bleed nipple...

Works fine in my case, brakes feel good....

cheers thats the way i have been locking the nipple under vacuum. just wanted to make sure i wasnt only one with that issue and pedal does feel alot better

just 1 more question - fine to bleed without having the pedal locked down slightly?

Never pushed down the pedal....
You want it to suck from the reservoir while all the ports are open in the master cylinder..pushing down will block the ports...
Otherwise it will hydraulic lock....

either the thread or just round the end of the hose? I dunno, maybe put a cabletie on the hose over the end of bleeder and see if the air stops.

You can put thick grease around the nipple thread that will stop air getting when. I personally used thread tape.

I am having a similar issue at the moment, I think it is more about having fiddler brakes in the mix, any tips would be great?
Latest mod, pin stripes, hit the same branch I did on the way in on the way out.

Brake nipples are very reliable. They should seal easy as.

Weird.

Im sticking my nose into what looks like a long running issue so sorry if this is a dumb question but did you clean out the calipers, check the nipple seating surfaces etc??

Also if you has the m/cyl disconnected/out did you bench bleed it before reconnecting?

Good luck anyway. I fixed cars for 12 years and sometime they just make you F&^%ING MAD!!!!!!
