Battery recommendations

Post by Sausage »

So the wagon having a few issues starting in the mornings at the moment, thought it might have been glow plugs so replaced them but still having a few issues. Now think its the battery just wondering what people use/reccommend/avoid etc

P.s it's a 1996 kzn185 surf (single battery version)

Cheers

before you outlay a couple of hundy on a battery pull the starter and check the contacts in the solenoid i replaced two sets of batteries within twelve months then a mate suggested that i check the contacts and i found that they were burnt out. $4.50 in parts and it hasn't missed a beat since

worth the effort imho

oh yeah there was a full post on here a year or two back and the lads were talking about up grading the battery to starter lead as well as the comments were along the lines that the oe lead was quite small and was limiting the current flow as aged progressed

you can go for a good size dry cell battery like an Odyssey they are just awesome, bit heavier than a standard one, also cost wise is bugger all if you are looking at higher CCA then I would get and Odyssey.

would definatly pay to get your bat fully charged with a bat type apropiate charger (i.e. calcium bats need calciumchargers) and then tested if its less than 4 years old. may not need replacing. what conditions does your veh liv in ie daily driver or hard yaka winching machine? if its a daily driver any bat that is rated apropiatly would do ya fine. just match the cca.
