NZ1 Winch Challenge (North vs South)
NZ1 Winch Challenge (North vs South)
Not long to go now The North/South Winch Challenge is on over the weekend of the 6-8th July. Based at Pucker Park, Hanmer, there will be 3 stages on Friday night, then down to Hurunui on Saturday for a further 10 stages and finally 7 stages on Sunday back at Pucker Park. Friday night will be free to view although we are keeping it low key spectator wise. Saturdays event is run by the 4x4 Events Club, this is run on private land and unfortunately no spectators are allowed. Sunday at Pucker Park will be a good day. Spectators welcome, usual price $10 per person or $25 a family. We'll have the food caravan there etc. Entries are still being taken here http://www.4x4events.co.nz/node/382
As per usual anyone who is keen to help out will be most welcome
Cheers
Jason

was up at the park Saturday , helping clear some tracks,
lots of trees down with snow dump, a couple of weeks back.
ground was still frozen, had trouble getting quad around, good thing it has a winch.
looking forward to this one , for sure

Re: NZ1 Winch Challenge (North vs South)
One night and two days of awesome 4wd , Great fun. Big thanks to Rick, Jason, and all your helpers. I had a brilliant weekend.
Re: NZ1 Winch Challenge (North vs South)
Who won ? Any results yet?
Re: NZ1 Winch Challenge (North vs South)
Was certainly a great weekend and I couldn't have done it without some serious help from John, Nick, Mike, Al, Jas and Rik who helped with the big tree cleanup, setting courses etc in the leadup to the event and then along with some excellent help from the Suzuki Club, marshalled the stages on the friday night and again on Sunday. I can't thank these guys enough for their help
Andrew Saverley (Sav) won the Thermal Thunder Event at Pucker Park
Rick Crosbie won the Hurunui Event
drum roll please.................................
Sav from Nelson took out the NZ1 title with Mike Holmes and Rick Crosbie second and third (I'm sure about Sav but might have Rick and Mike round the wrong way )
Big thanks to all the competitors who took part. We had 14 entries in 4 classes with two teams travelling down from the NI to fly the flag. We had a brand new 12000 pound SuperWinch up for grabs and thought the fairest way to pick a winner was by drawing a competitors name out of a hat. This was won by Glen Raymond from the Manakau 4WD Club so along with a good load of South Island mud the winch heads North with him.
Thanks again to everyone for helping us stage a fantastic, exciting and fun event.
So whats the next event going to be then guys????

Re: NZ1 Winch Challenge (North vs South)
Some people might of liked the country music instead of the sound of the guys wheeling their trucks. But to me you can't beat the sound of a 4X4 truck in the bog. CHEERS Bob!!
