Transfer case OK.. Double cardon shagged..

Hey as title says just came beck from macetown again.. :shock: sucker for punishment but noticed a weird clicking noise in the driveline and now home im sure its coming from the tranfercase.. no idea but maybe someone has had the same or similar problem? any thoughts..? as I do have spare gears and bearings etc .. draining the oils now to check for ummm bits :mrgreen: :lol: :roll: Hoping its nothing in there.. but im just asking the question as someone may have had the same thing.. and knows the cure.. :( cheers

had that once on an old one piece transfercase, turned out I lost a couple of teeth off one of the gears, when you pull the oil bung that'll tell you if theres something serious going on in there or not

check the driveshaft u/js it they are burnelled they can make a clicking humming noise depending on speend and angle.plus they have to come off if you pull the transfercase

Thnx Sadam, Just spoke to a mate who is a mechanic.. He's thinking it might be the doublecardon unit having a fit.. :mrgreen: as It's the only peice bar the axles thats not had a good ol thrashing.. :mrgreen: and it has a bit of sloop so oils draining.. check it later tonight.. fingures crossed.. So if thats all good then it'll be the dc unit.. which maybe an easy and not so costly fix.... But fkit had a ball :twisted: 4"ice breaking etc..lol actually didnt get out of the low road.. :shock: :mrgreen:

ok oil doesnt have any bits.. :roll: but has a little water :mrgreen: and is milky.. so ill replace the oil.. Does anyone know where to get a DC rebuild kit from? as Im starting to really think it's that.. bit sloopy eh.. :mrgreen:
Ill run the oil through a sive after dinner.. but pretty sure there nothing in it.. phew.. :lol:
