Re: Spider bypass/repair info, for when your D1 doesnt start
a big thank you to xj
just spent the afternoon pulling mates dash apart, getting at that pain in the but module and finding a couple of big dry joints on the relay legs. most of the board look like a monkey had soldered it.
looks like finally got the cause of his intermittent non-starts.
tho a couple of tips for others.
coin box needs a blade (ie plaster scraper or spatula) pushed in at the top to unclip the two clips on the top which you can't get access two (typical British design!) while you unclip the bottom two.
i filed the top clips off later to make any future access easier.
the "spider" (immobilizer module) need stubby screw driver and small right angle screw driver to be able to undo the screws. one in front of the unit and one long one behind it. yes you can actually unscrew them.

Re: Spider bypass/repair info, for when your D1 doesnt start
Hapy to be of service.
Turns out that wasnt my problem at all, for two reasons:
1) Mines a '95 and doesnt have the spider
2) When taking the radiator out on the weekend and cutting the front off, the ignition module has disappeared with it (located on the passengers side radiator mount.. silly place, but, truct wont start so good without it)
