WTB - ARB Winch Bar to fit BJ74 with PTO

Post by joeninetynz »

Nice secondhand one lying around somewhere in this world. It doesn't have to fit the PTO, but fit the Bj74 is a start.

Flick me a Pm if you have one for sale.

I'm a newbie so be gentle.

Jerrys got an old ARB bar sitting in his shed that came off his LJ70 cruiser that he hasnt driven for about 10 years, he'll never use the bar so you could try PMing him but he'll probably want the full new retail price plus 20% for it :x :?

To get a PTO winch into an ARB bar is do-able and been done before but its not as straight forward as it seems, I'm part way through swapping my old 8274 winch out for a PTO on my truck and its all working out ok for me but I've got a 50mm bodylift and my ARB bar is also lifted 50mm, without that I think you'll find the round tube crossmember will end up directly in line with the PTO shaft, I've lifted my shaft to come up above the crossmember instead of under it and it all clears and lines up properly, the winch mounted into the bar easly, I used the origional piece of angle iron that the rear of the winch mounts to and it sits at the right height on the top of the ARB bar chassis mounts.

The problem you have now is toyota PTO winches spool the rope off the top of the drum and the bar is made and cut out for a winch that spools off the bottom of the drum so that means you have to cut up and butcher up the front of the bar and remove the bracket that the fairlead rollers locate in which is also there to stiffen and brace the front of the bar or use a forward/reverse PTO instead of a standard single direction PTO so you can run the winch in the oppersite direction and spool the rope of the bottom of the drum Image

My one isn't for sale sorry, suprised sadam didn't throw in the a winch with it as well

Try madmike (the runva vendor on here ... he does the mcc bars, stinky can get some bars in as well, tomsoffroad may be able to make something up as well.

Last time I talked to badnuz the older 70 bars were unavaliable from arb at the moment, there was an arb bar on TM at the moment for a flatdeck.

Hi I was about to sell my bullbar with pto set up on trademe. Started off as a arb but changed around a pit to take my pto set up. I just took it off my 73 series cruiser as I went mid mount.
