Thoughts?

Im all good with friday can do some prep thursday night.it takes around three hours to cook.so we would be eating around eight is everyone cool with that.

Water...
Do we need to carry it in or take containers? Or is there a good supply at the hut?
I guess if we get snow, there will be a good water supply LOL

Macaulay hut =D

1000m

http://tramper.co.nz/?2075

And yeah there is a tap and a river nearby but best to bring your own up Macaulay.
River water up the Hopkins looks much better for drinking (faster and deeper)

Sorry thought you were wanting to check for you cooker thing. Godley hut is up by the Glacier, we're staying up the Macaulay.

This is Godley hut at just over 1100m on this map:

https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&t=p&q=http://tramper.co.nz/%3Fview%3Dobject.kml%26id%3D6544

Image

You'll be able to wander to Godley hut and take a gander when we head up there on Sat

Macaulay hut is just over 1000m.
https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&t=p&q=http://tramper.co.nz/%3Fview%3Dobject.kml%26id%3D2075

Thought Godley hut would be a bit higher than that compared to Macaulay tbh.

Wasn't part of it flooded on the way back in 2010? When we got heaps of snow on the way out like? :D

Yee haa. I'm still up at Broken River getting dry firewood for our trip and...
IT IS SNOWING!
Just checked on snow.co.nz and Dobson are saying 65 cm's over last two days! Ohau saying nearly half a metre. Yes! It should be fun:-P

Thanks to those who have said yes to firewood. We should have some blazing fires. Anyone else wanting to sort firewood for the trip via me?

Pre trip PUBMEET
Have been thinking for a while that it is time we met at a pub in Shaketown occasionally. How about we start off this Thursday eve.
This way those of us in Chch can meet face to face and possibly meet any of those Rednecks from over the ditch. When do.you guys get down here Jerry?

My thoughts are Smash Palace, SW cnr of Bealey Ave and Victoria St. Tis a cool outdoor bar set around an old red bus, that was. Thursdays is bike night, so there will be plenty of ancient stepthroughs at the bar. Greg will have his caravan workshop open as well. Likely someone will need something sorted. Amazing what gear he had in there.
You will spot me in a grey beanie with Broken River in orange on it.
May possibly be there in my red Austin Seven still all covered in mud from last weekend.
Cheers Johnno
