1KZTE into a Hilux

Post by waterboy123 »

Hi Guys,

I have a 98 Hilux 2WD, RZN147 with the petrol 2 litre in it, (I know it's not 4WD but trying to find somewhere else that deals with the 1KZTE in Nz is hard) thats getting tired, I have a 1KZTE (96 KZN185) lined up, and want to know if anyone has done a similar swap, engine mounts etc are not a problem, more so interested in the wiring side of things, is there anyone who can modify them loom to suit?

cheers

James

From the diagrams I've looked at, the key seems to be the trans. What are you hooking up to it?

Was looking at a R154 if i can find one (out of the JZX100 turbo Toyota Chaser) as they are about the stongest 5 speed toyota box you can buy, otherwise try an adapt whats in there (5 speed floor change) not sure exactly what it is.

With the trans wiring are you meaning the signals it provides to the ECU? Motor is from an auto truck.

Yes, engine expects some info from the Auto and Vice Versa. I bumped into some info on using an Auto ECU with a Manual box on a 2JZ/1JZ somewhere. Using the A340 Auto rather than the A343 which usually comes with the 1KZ. I was googling for wiring diagrams and stumbled across it. Have a search and see what you can find, if you get nowhere let me know and I'll have a hunt.

One important thing is the motor expects the auto to tell it when its in gear, which changes the air/fuel mix or something like that.
