Another CHCH Newbie

Post by Gravity »

Hi All

I am another CHCH 4wd newbie...must be something in the water

I have an 80 series which I brought to tow the caravan and some friends talked me in to joining a 4wd club. The first thing I have realised is that 4 wheel drives are not that suitable for 4 wheel driving! You need to do a whole heap of modifications.

I have a question for the experts. Because I want to tow a 6.5metre caravan as well as some easy family type off roading, I was looking at installing Rancho 9000 shocks so I can adjusted between the two modes. I have looked on forums and spoken to a few people and the feedback swings between "they are gimmicks" to "they would be the best solution for me" What does the forum reckon? Do they last? Are they a waste of time/money?

Also if I go for a 2" lift, is it advisable to also install new castors? Is there any other component I would need to install?

Cheers
Paul
