Vitara Engine opinions V6

Post by kbushnz »

Hi Yah all...
My Bro is looking at buying at Zuk...
Vitara with the 2.5? V6 in it.
Mainly a daily driver and the occasional trip to the beach to launch his tinny.
So question is..
What are they like?
Any issues with them?
He's particularly interested with the engine and what it is like.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers Calvin

the only issue i have heard about them is they have a weak timing chain assembly, which can get expensive, depending on where you go i guess,

but otherwise theyre good.

2.5 is ok with the timing chain but watch the hydraulic lifters. Keep the oil changes regular.

Rear crank seals are defective on the early ones. The part is cheap but gearbox has to come out to replace it.

My thermostat clapped out at 130000km.

Just remember it's a Suzuki so a lot of annoying little things will go wrong with it.

They are thirsty for a small vehicle but the power is good.
