Great Wall Vehicles
Great Wall Vehicles
anyone had any experience with them? I know you get what you pay for, but be interested to hear of ACTUAL experience
Re: Great Wall Vehicles
i know a local farmer who has one. had no problems with it and says it is excellent value for money, but paint and plastic lost its shine and it looked a bit shabby quite quickly.

That is interesting about the rodeo relation as I thought the new Colorado looks a little like the great wall.
Latest mod, pin stripes, hit the same branch I did on the way in on the way out.

Re: Great Wall Vehicles
don't make any relation between holden/GM and great wall. they have there own market to protect, why would they share platforms with the biggest copyright infringers on the planet.
They blantantly copied other auto manufacturers
That and GM don't own "isuzu" or the "rodeo" names anymore.

"Other Great Wall models may have been copied from those of foreign automakers, too. The Great Wall Florid looks like a Toyota ist, the Great Wall Sailor/SA220 looks like an Isuzu Rodeo; and some older Great Wall Hover models may look like Isuzu Axioms, etc.[citation needed]"

Re: Great Wall Vehicles
the great walls and colorado's etc are Isuzu dmax's built under liscense. Most things are the same but the great walls run their own diesel engine

Re: Great Wall Vehicles
I think what GM have done is sell off the old tooling etc for the old Rodeo - hence the look.
Nissan have done the same with the D22 to one of the Korean manufacturers I think.. can't recall who they sent it too.
Mitsi did the same when the Malaysian company Proton started up.

Re: Great Wall Vehicles
usually people reckon they're 'made under licence' or 'tolling was sold to them' or whatever but the parts are never the same. they look similar but are always just different enough that they wont take the same parts and stuff.
why would isuzu/gm sell all the old rodeo ute tooling to the chinese when they're still making and selling the parts for those models?
chinese just COPY other makes.
also, if they were rodeos/colorados made under licence, why do they crash so badly in comparison?

Re: Great Wall Vehicles
It is true that the Chinese have an incredible ability to turn out copies of things. From designer hand bags to imitation Stihl chainsaws...
But GM and other big manufacturers invest in start up vehicle markets etc. They may have a shareholding in these fledgling companies where the local market is looking for inexpensive vehicles to buy.
Most companies are now looking to joint manufacturing ventures with China, as they will only but one of your products and have thousands within a month!
