Best method to wreck/dismantle a GQ

Post by 3rnzir »

As above.I have a 1990 LWB Safari that has roof rust issues that means no more WoF unless plenty $$$$ spent on it.
I need help regards the best sequence of dismantling.
Have 4 x heavy axle stands.1 x 3 ton trolley jack.Reasonable number of tools.
What else will be required to get job done?

20 minutes Sth of you cobber.
Looking to do the job when backyard dries out.
Xmas work break most likely
I can hire engine/gearbox crane/lift.
Suppose I will need some heavy duty pallets to place engine/gearbox on.
Have a rough idea of pricing from TM.

I always sold the engine and gearbox first while the car was running so the buyer could still do a compression/leak down check /test, could also strip the interior out in the mean time to get rid of parts.

Good call nismo26.
That seems fair to the buyer.

Easiest way to me would be host up a wrecking auction on TM with photos and get people to ask for what the want then host auctions of the parts people what. After you've sold most of the big expensive stuff. Scrap it or sell the rest to a 4x4 dismantler maybe?

On another note, any chance I can buy the dash clock off you and some of the black switch blanks out of the dash? Also, what kind of sun visors does it have. (I'm after some of the shorter ones from a truck with a pitch/roll/altimeter on the roof)

flog off the small bits first, interior doors lights trim / anything that cld be slow to move. With diffs trans eng etc there is always someone somewhere looking for it and it seems you have an idea on what its worth

Does it have the rear swaybar intact? if so can I have the drivers side disconnect mechanism? if it is a fixed non-disconnect type can I have the drivers side sawybar mount anyway?
