Baring head access Wellington

Hi, Just wondering if there is access to Baring head lighthouse via the Wainuiomata coast road / beach? or does the river preclude access thru there. I know Muritai Rd is locked off to mortals but was hoping there was another way round.

wainui side you could try access via the farm (forget its name at the moment), went on a 4x4 trip thru there ages ago but access is hard to arrange apparantly. have heard access is blocked on one side....

not really mate I think thats all WRC reserve down there now and I think you have to cross Pencarrow Stn (Mike Curtis) property to get over the hill from the wainui coast road end
