Post by Nis-man »

Hi Folks
Does anybody know the best place to source shear pins for Safari PTO's?

Use a 4.8 bolt in the front, good to have a weak point & easier to change if needed.

I ordered a new shear pin for mine a few months ago. The only place I could find that stocked them was the local nissan dealer, it cost $35 fr 1 . Now I have replace the rear pin (closest to the gear box with a 8.8 8mm bolt and am using a cheap 4.4 bolt at the winch end now. Just remember what ever you do make sure there is aweak point otherwise you will end up damaging the winch. I was looking at a couple at the local mechanics that had distroyed themselves one had blown the front side out of the gear box where the worm drive is and another had twisted the drum

8.8s with a nylock seem to do the trick :)

first time PTO owner, I got the shits when it broke the first time (and I wasn't carrying a $2 spare!)
