TD27t emergency relief valve / BOV

Been off the forum for ages, but finally back as I'm getting my parts together for an intercooler install, turbo tweak, EGR delete, and PCV oil catcher. Sourcing a Mistral/Terrano II intercooler in Canada was a pain in the arse - carried one back in my luggage from the UK!

Want to do this with minimum down time on the Terrano so getting blanking plates for EGR and tubes for turbo and intake manifold fabricated using gaskets as templates.

What I want to do too is to remove the nasty mushroom-shaped emergency relief valve on the TD27t intake manifold, or what the parts list on http://nissan4u.com calls the "valve intake bypass". I've seen a bunch of people on the forum here using a threaded bung or plug in its place.

Any idea what size, thread count this is?

Ducked out in the thunderstorm with the calipers on the valve and read 33mm or about 1 5/8" but that was a pretty slapdash measurement.

Any info gratefully received.

Go to a plumber supply and you can buy a bung that goes straight in there.
I think its 25mm thread I could be wrong I did write it on my wax terrano thread.

It was only 1.50 aussie that may be equal to 57 dollars kiwi

They had a rack of them in stock so its an easy thing to get hold of

Cheers mate, I'll give that a try.

But here in North America, trying to get anything metric or even BSP pipe thread can be a real PITA. Just have to remove the valve in the car park, take it in to the store, and re-install it when they have nothing that fits

You could always remove the valve, cut the top off it and weld a plate over it if you cannot find a suitable bung?

Out of interest, anyone ever thought of replacing it with an adjustable or higher rated relief valve?

Maybe not necessary as the motor seems to take everything that the standard turbo can throw at it.

I don't see the point of them on diesels...
They stop the intake pressure going higher ( not an issue cauz they'd just swallow it, and can help reduce egt), but don't reduce strain on turbo, as it still has to pump all that air.
Maybe a bit less strain than pumping less air at higher pressure tho??
Waste-gate control is better as it reduces exhaust backpressure, which in turn gives more power and lower egts.

I just dont have the hose to the wastegate hooked up its full boost every where

hey guys i took off the mushroom shaped valve on the intake manifold and used a brass bung ,the next problem is i have an adjustable boost controller on the wastegate line im fully open on the needle and only boosts at 10 psi when i disconnect the waste gate vacum line and bung it i get more boost 15 psi max what have most people done here? in regards to wastegate?

used a .9mm mig tip in the hose line
