Low range kits

So im running 31s on my escudo and have found the gear to high in low 4x4, What low range kits are out there and winch ones are the best

make a rock lobster or buy the low range gears for it, i belive this is the one

takes heaps off low range and 12% off high range, you can also make one yourself by machining 413 and 410 gears and swapping the output gears, but this kit has everything if you dont want to venture with that yourself

Hmmm , 31's on his Escudo

There is a transfer case reduction for them , I installed a t/case with one in it for my cousin . Does not change high ratio only low ratio .
A bit more detail on what vehicle it is would help

5.?? ring and pinion unless you have them or trans gears - with 80c in the US$ theres never been a better time, go straight to the states

Yes would work out a bit cheaper, looks like its only from 91 on wards thow? and mine being a 89 they might not fit?

im dont see why they would have changed the transfer cases, but just do some research and see

Make sure you do the seals and bearings when you're in there. It seems as though its quite a lot more expensive to do a transfer case on an escudo. It cost me just over $1000 to put 4.9s in my SJ from lowrangeoffroad.com and i supplied my own bearings. Theres plenty of options out there, all comes down to how much money you want to spend and how reliable you want it to be.

As best as I can tell:

Option 1: transfer gears. Only lowers low range.

Option 2: Undertaker. Does both low and high range, but needs the propellor shafts to be shortened lengthened. I have also read some US forums that mentioned some problems with the build quality in how tightly things were held together.

Option 3: Higher ratio ring and pinion. Some factory options are available, but are very rare. Calmini used to sell some, but have been discontinued for a few years. Apparently this Turkish outfit does them.

Option 4: Hilux gearbox/transfer case?

Am looking at a calmini kit at the moment, any second hand ones out there??
