escudo bought in welly

Hey fellas,
Just bought my first suzuki escudo 1990 3DR 16V.
It's bog standard at the moment so i intend to fit the usual mods . lift , tyres and extractors. Unfortunately this one has been lowered with shorter shocks and springs (why ...i have no idea) so I doubt I'll get away with just fitting muds to start having fun unless i go really small .
I'm a bit baffled about the different options re lifts . been eyeing up the Fts kit from winch but I'm apprehensive about the 1450 price tag . Any one out there doing a cheaper kit or have any recommendations on getting her propped up a bit . doesn't need to be a major lift just something to make her capable around welly for diving etc .Just wana know my options really

2" lift should clear 30's, ARB's Old Man Emu suspension is supposed to be pretty good.

a mate of mine runs 30x9.5r15 tyres with slight rubbing on standard suspension

just do a 'cheap vitara lift', LWB springs into the SWB. Will be fine. 30's will fit with a little rub n standard suspension, so with the basic lift it will be more than fine.

No body lift required and fits 30.5" tyres with a little rubbing on the rear ones.

looks like the shocks might actually be standard just lowered springs so might get away with some lwb springs for now . is it as simple as chuck them straight on or is there anything else that needs doing ?

diff A arm spacer and some longer shocks helps too, VL commy shocks work mint. and maybe a longer brake line for the back.

i bought the lwb springs and fitted them then the 30x9.5's and she looks a hell of a lot better than before .
Went for a quick burn around red rocks last night (not over the gate) and she's rubbing a bit when it gets a bit technical but over the normal track it's fine ...seems to be just the outer edge of the tyre as there are some light cut marks where the guard has cut the rubber .i haven't tried to turn the wheel over anything tricky yet so it could be worse under steering
what would you suggest ... 2" body lift or some handy work on the the guards . i know nothing about neither
With the body lift what is involved and what else needs to be done ? apart from the lift itself ? i'e brake lines , certs etc ?

body lift needs a cert. It would be easier to cut the excess off the guards. instead.

Don't ask me the best way to do that though

what actually is the difference between LWB and SWB springs? is it the number of coil's??
i have old man emu suspension but i think i have standard SWD spring's.

No difference in amount of coils, they are simply a harder spring. Much the same as lift kits usually are up to about 2", they just use stiffer springs usually.

paddyak, how much did they raise yours? I think mine were about 30mm maybe, and I have the 2.5v6 springs in mine. Still rides alright too. also what shocks did you use?

the guy i bought it off had put lowering springs in so i have no idea what the raise from standard would have been but the mechanic that fit them said it was a full coil from the lower springs and definitely noticeable . i think about 30 or 40mm though .

i'd prefer to avoid the body lift if possible as i'm quite happy with her as is but yeh that noise when it rubs...criinge!!
some fender bending might be the way to go ...anyone experienced in the art or know anyone in welly that could do a job on it ?
the shocks are munroe's and are the standard swb shocks

Go the Fts kit I did no regrets worth it's price tag by the time you stuff round trying to get all the bits and pieces

Should be visual on the body where it rubs when you take a wheel off(Shiney), pick up a cheap 4lb hammer at bunnings or similar and apply liberally

i reckon it's just that inch or so of seam that's causing the rubbing , the bit that kind of heads inwards from the wheel arch . is it just a matter of banging that back upwards to be flush with the guard ?

depends how much you are about dent on your guards etc. If you hammer it up, use a block on the other side to minimise dents/bending of the panel etc. If you do hammer it I would cut it into smaller sections to make it easier to fold up into the guards.
