Will a LSD diff head fit into a non LSD axle housing?
Will I just need to yank the axles out, Put the LSD head in and bolt it all back together?

Yep.
Re: LSD Diff
Provided they are both "HG" type (233mm) and are the same ratios.
Easy swap over too.

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Re: LSD Diff
Check the lenght of the axles, I got caught out . Bearings were seized on my factory locker diff so to save money & time I removed axles from a spare LSD & tried to fit them into the locker diff, wouldn't fit. Compared the 2 sets long side (lsd) too short & short side too long?!

Centre pumpkin diff. But do check the spline count on the half shafts.

Re: LSD Diff
an open diff carrier externally looks the same as a non lsd carrier, well the stronger ones do anyway.
