LVVTA and cert plates
LVVTA and cert plates
Ok not after a shit fight but just wana know if anybody else has had more trouble than usual lately with cert plates and the number of them arriving with outright mistakes on details on the plates?
So been waiting for about 4 weeks in total for my plate to arrive for the hilux, took it through for cert on the 17th of sep,it missed on some small details,so i corrected them and it passed, told my plate would be there in 3days,plate didnt arrive,so waited another week and plate still hadnt turned up,rang certifier,he hadnt seen it,so rang LVVTA,talked to dave,no paper work, rang certifier told him the LVVTA hadnt seen any regarding my truck?
Long story short, the paperwork hadnt been sent because it had been put in the wrong pile,an apology from certifier and paper work sent,no big deal.
Week later, no plate, rang LVVTA,was informed some details were missed,(suspension heights not recorded),went and visited certifier, mistake admitted LVVTA called and details were corrected.
Today, plate arrived details not correct, vehicle is injected, plate said carbd,FFS,plate being sent back for corrections, certifier tells me that this is the 4th plate today with mistakes on it.....WTF...... all the details on the certifiers paper work were correct, so why the big F up at the printing of the plates end COME ON LVVTA WAKE UP!!!

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
Yea mines not 100% correct either says it is a 4 or 5door instead of it being a 3 door, seen another the same as well, and it is missing the rear panhard off the plate as well, I didn't really bother looking at it till recently and can't be arsed to go back.
Re: LVVTA and cert plates
Trouble is if you get pulled up and some anal cop goes through the mods with a fine toothed comb you could end up with a massive fine and shit fight with the law makers?
I considered just running with it aswell in the incorrect form but decidec not to?

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
if you paid for a job, you want it done right.
i myself would want everything certed, who knows what will bite you in the butt later on down the track

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
How would I prove that I haven't just put it on? It does look factory just a bit bigger. It would have to be a expert cop to pick it up, the 5door part could be fun explaining.
Also I don't think my lower control arms or drop boxes are on the plate, would it come under suspension lift? Not on the paper work either only have some writing that I can't read and the adjustable panhard.
Also they don't have the tyre size on the plate.

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
It is something insurance could question if the vehicle was in an accident and a particular mod was certed but wasn't recorded. Then it could be your word against theirs
Re: LVVTA and cert plates
It does worry me as to how many other people are driving around in thier modified vehicles thinking all the details on thier plate are correct, and may have mods missing,if the latest stuff up i have had the misfortune of being tied up in is anything to go by im sure there are plenty of people in the same position?
Where does that leave us legally?????

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
All mod details are kept on file and are not necessarily on the plate. My last TJ only had rims dimensions on plate, but 33s were listed on paperwork. "lift" with measurement was on plate, but adj control arms, springs and shocks were listed seperately on paperwork. Ask for a copy of the lvvta paperwork too. Its all a bit "so whats the point" really.

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
Its all well and good but, there is a massive difference between a vehicle that is injected and one that has a carburettor fitted? thats just a blatent mistake

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
Tyre size doesnt get put on cert plate, just recorded on paperwork. Rim size and offset does though. You can blame LVVTA all you like but Id be questioning the cert man who forgot to send it, then forgot some details then again admitted a mistake. Did you give the cert man a list of your modifications you wanted certified? or stay with him while he did it so all details were recorded? Plate people just read a piece of paper written out by your cert man and stamp it out on a plate.
Softroader VW Amarok nowadays....

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
The certifier showed me that he had correctly written down the vehicle was injected,so the blame lies solely on the person that is illiterate reading a simple piece of paper on the stamping machine!

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
When I got my cert plate for my 40 it took 3 attempts for Lvvta to get the plate right. Even tho it was all there on the document from the certifier.
I just got a copy of the paperwork, laminated it an put it in the glovebox in case I ever got questioned on anything

Didn't barbie drive a jeep??
Re: LVVTA and cert plates

That was all due to the certifier he did all his measurements from the office looking at the truck while it was parked out on the street (I was there lol )
I now list with all relevant measurements all mods.... right down to moving brake line mounts and I keep a record dated on file
Cheers Reece
Re: LVVTA and cert plates
I've had similar problems in the past. Plate didn't match the mods, and in fact, vehicle was certified and LVVTA/LTSA deemed it too dangerous for the road. Seems the certifier has recently had his authority revoked, so I will be watching the outcome with interest.
Re: LVVTA and cert plates
I know there is very little i can do if its wrong again?
Any suggestions on what i should do?

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
Who did your cert?
I checked my plate and cert paper work today, has no mention of lower control arms, dropboxes or rear panhard.

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
wayne martin did mine, i hold no malice towards wayne for his mistakes as he has had a lot to deal with lately, and anyone under that much pressure from NZTA and LVVTA would probably be making a few mistakes too,i am a little annoyed at the amount of time its taking before i can use my truck,i just wana use it and not have to worry about the cops harassing me?

Re: LVVTA and cert plates
3 of the 4 plates I had made for cars this year were incorrect at the printers end not the certifiers, seems the machine is a mong
Re: LVVTA and cert plates
this a huge problem, then again ive never had a cop look at it, and most wof guys dont understand half of it anyway, like rears up front has RUF on my plate, RUF could be anything to the wof man, so now im thinking ill ditch my leaf set up and whack some links coils when im back in NZ, then if i get questioned just say its a typo on the plate officer...
