Im trying to design/build my seat mounting in my fj40 finely come up with a design I think will work. What do you guys think in terms of getting cert ? or any other ideas
only having small post at the back with the one bolt in exsisting mount location as I still have my petrol tank under the drivers seat
Ive had plenty of fj40-45s with the tank under the seat, never had any problems with them. Re the plans..if i was you id maybe go show your plans to a certifier that you think may cert your truck because they all have slightly different ideas on what they consider legal.
was just going to leave tank as its in original position and its been there for 35 years already and theres an lpg tank hanging under the floor so not many other places to put a tank
I emailed cert guy with plans and photos and he wrote back read the lvv manual
Where will your seatbelt anchorages be? If not mounted to the seat then a well built setup should be fine. Bit more involved if seatbelts are anchored to seat frame.

Good question top will be onto the roll cage bottom could prob go on the same bolt where the back post is if I just gusset one side?. center clips and lapbelt was going onto the frame or could take it down to floor and bolt plate through the floor. Or maybe put another post to the floor in the middle of the frame to floor and bolt through the floor?
