Pajero fuel tank question

G'day all,

I've got a 85 Pajero, petrol, and fuel tank is beyond repair.

There's a donor vehicle not far from me but it's a diesel.

Can the fuel tanks be straight swapped?

Might save me the trip to go and look if someone knows...

I was looking at replacing my tank in a 93 SWB Pajero, wrecker told me that petrol and diesel have different tanks

theyll be different for sure the petrol one will have a in tank pump as where the diesel will not
