help please after adding injector cleaner

hi guys i added some injector cleaner from repco 2 weeks ago in my truck terrano td27 was a little smokey before hand after i did 40 ks, i now have a bad flat spot around 1500-1800 rpm smokes alot and clears when the turbo kicks after 2000rpm it runs good up high no smoke etc...and better.

but...... :?

after this i read the bottle ,im used to putting in the whole bottle years ago well it said 50ml per 100l gas can double up if stronger cleaner prefered so 50ml would have done my full tank 58litres but i put it all in 300ml to my tank i ran half tank through then topped up again still hasnt fixed it self my injector pump is new only 2000kms on it have i stuffed the injectors??

any ideas cheers

Change the filter and also check the little screen filter at the pump. There are some posts on here with pictures..
The cleaner has probably stripped some gunk off and clogged filters.
Thats about all I can think off.

yeah, remove the banjo fitting ontop of the injector pump under the power steer pump, inside is a little gauze that gets clogged with crap when running injector cleaner or Jet A with diesel.

Ok guys thanks for tips ive changed the filter today had some brown crap at the bottom when i took the sender off the bottom . I also took off the fuel inlet fitting bolt couldnt see any type of filter there? And she still smokes one thing i have noticed is ,its fine when cold first start up for 5 mins about 2kms then comes on?

brown and slimey? maybe diesel bug if there was water in the fuel you put in the tank?

well ive refulled up with fresh gas new fuel filter and still has hesatation when i take off only when warm not cold! :evil:

any ideas people also who recos injectors in manukau city cost?

should this be my next step?

Wondering if it could be faulty EGR system causing the hesitation. Maybe just co-incidence that its started playing up after injector cleaner.
Do a quick search, heaps of info on this site in regard to disabling EGR.

crash bandicoot - A-jet fuel ?? do you mean like aviation jet fuel?

At my work we have a variety of "diesel" powered things, and they run fine on the jet fuel.
Would a bit of 2stroke oil help, if i was to use jet fuel in my Wagon?

I wonder how many ppl use jet fuel, (kero) and if anyone with a CRD uses it?

well after a bit of playing around i found my egr vacum line hard and broken on the end to the egr cut that down fix that up also same on the little vacum thing on the intake manifold from the turbo


next thing is i was reving it up under the bonnet and noticed the valve was opening up and closing while holding the revs at 2000 rpm so i cable tied it up to stay open to see if anything happens

and what ya know my hesatation and smoking has gone no flat spot at all 8)

can some one tell me what that does and what is it called also is it supose to open and close like that
cause its fixed my problem should i get a new one or is there a way to see if it holds vacume some how

ps: can i unplug the egr vacume line and bung it up both ends?

took off the fitting and there was no spring or gauze in there had a gd look as well pump has just been done not long ago may be they left it out??

yeah most old diesels egr valves pack up, they wear out and start to open too easily, just take the vacume hose off and bung it up at the manifold, wont effect the way it runs it's just an emissions thing really, passes exhaust gas back through the intake to burn unburnt fuel. your issue will be from it opening to much and choking the motor with too much exhaust gas. a new one would be very expencive.

ok trying to figure out where this bit of sheet metal gota go to block the egr ?is it on the manifold itself? where the egr is bolted or somewhere else?

i have the egr vacum off at the moment and the problem is 90% fixed what happens to the butterfly now on the intake ive cable tied that open to now cause it was opening and closing fast and choking the motor?

on the rear of the intake manifold by the fire wall is a pipe that runs behind the head to the exhuast manifold, you will see a vacum actuator on this pipe.
(looks alot like the actuator for the wastegate on the turbo just bigger)
on the intake side unbolt the flange that holds this pipe to the intake manifold and (along with some rtv rubber silicone) slide the plate in between he flange and the intake manifold and do the bolts back up. unhook and plug the little rubber hose that travels from the actuator to the little valves that are supplied vacum from the vacum pump on the passengers side.
