TM link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/jeep/wrangler/auction-518903753.htm

Would appreciate any advice people can give on these, I've read a lot of reviews but would prefer some I know I could rely on - you folk!

Don't mention the fuel, sick of reading it..

Thanks!! 8)

Looks like its in pretty good nic, i would be worried about how it stops and starts randomly though, ask if its when cold or idling. That could narrow it down.

Not many manual wranglers around these days!

Yours looks sexy! If you read it is only the stereo that stops\starts - I couldn't care about that I have a good mate that'll fix that up a treat!

Tempted to drive up there this weekend to look and\or get an AA report as I've made a mistake similar before..

I've heard that the head gaskets go every 100,000km? True/false? Anything that does go on them?

I have heard that some people have had issues with the cylinder head on a particular model, head is marked 0331 I believe. Apparently (according to the wrangler forum, USA) this 0331 head is prone to crack under certain conditions. Suggest you have a look at the forum http://www.wranglerforum.com these guys live and breath wranglers.
Personally I love mine, just got to stop spending money on it. Jeeps aren't bought they are built! Good luck.

From what I have read the head issue was for earlier production of TJ and XJ. Around 2000 onwards things were changed a bit. Alternator moved high up, ignition went all coil packs and no plug leads, exhaust header and intake were modified all through 2000/01. 2002 onwards should be fine. Just check if its 2002 model year or registration year.

As for head gasket blowing aroubd 100k mark, thats a new one for me. Never heard that before. 4.0l engine is considered to be pretty much bulletproof with regular basic maintenance. I have 01 model year TJ that i got with 28k on the clock. Its done nearly 100k with me so far.

If its NZ new, then it should be a Dana 44 rear regardless of what Americans say. It was Aussie spec.

Just looked at the description, it says ABS brakes. Actually export market 2002 never came out with ABS brakes. To confirm, just look under the master cylinder on firewall. There is a tray under it with nothing on it. Thats where ABS unit goes.

Cheers, mine's slowly coming along, but i've always wanted a Jeep so i didnt pay attention to the little things like gas consumption etc.

Ahhhh stereo doesnt matter! Just roll down the window and listen to the 4L wind up ;)

I got an AA check on mine before i got it (im in auckland and i got mine from palmy). Pretty thorough and was happy with it. Mine is a 97 manual and has only done 97,000kms. Hope the gasket doesn't go! I maintain it frequently so i guess thats the key

Cheers
