Porika Track, Wednesday afternoon 3rd Oct, 2012

Post by MSBWilson »

Hi. I'm planning to drive through the Porika Track tomorrow from the Rotoroa side. This is in support of my son who is doing a mountain bike section through there as part of a solo Karamea to Clarence South Island crossing and Asthma Foundation fund raiser.
See http://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/LukeWilson/ if you would like to read about and follow or support this adventure.

I would appreciate it if someone on the forum can confirm that the track is drivable - I'll be in a 60 series LWB Cruiser.

Join in too if you like. We expect to start mid afternoon, about 3.30ish.

Mark.

We had a good trip over the Porika late yesterday aftenoon. No problems or blockages. It looked like someone had recently cleared fallen trees in a couple of spots. My son, riding ahead on his mountain bike, saw a couple of deer not far down from the top on the Howard side.

Mark, I was planning on heading over to join you guys for this but completely forgot about it. Sorry.
Glad you had a good trip over though. There are some great views to be had up there too.
