It's got everything that hilux club truck has, plus it has a cage and a WOF.
well, it doesn't come with the silverstones, but the $1500 price difference would get you a long way towards some nice rubber.

If you want to better your old FJ40, which it kinda sounds like you do...

Take your donor FJ40 body. Put it on a scratch built chassis with safari diffs, coil overs etc etc so that the articulation is insane.

Engine, box and transfer case can be what ever takes your fancy. LS2 again with a supercharger?

I think the extra cost to do it this way would be worth it for the end result compared to the FJ40 body on the SWB Safari chassis. Majority of the cost is in the little things which are required for both builds anyway

Ya don't really need coilovers on a winch/trials truck. More a supple ride to soak up punts up/down banks and across rutted territory.

A friend the other day suggested I drive up and watch a trails final comp with cash in my pocket. See a truck I like and offer cash on the spot. Tow it home then and there. That way you get to see how it performs and buy it before they get it home to take all the good bits off before selling it. I thought that sounded like a good idea.

Oh yip, at the start of the thread it sounded like you were pretty keen to build the FJ40 on the SWB Saf chassis so was just putting it out there that a wicked suspension setup would only be a fraction of the total build cost

Getting a truck already done will definately hurt the wallet less

Only if you bin almost everything that has been done ans start again.
Why on earth would you shorten a short wheel base for anything other than trials, and leave those absolutely useless cart springs hanging under the housings?
$15k? you guys must have good drugs up there if anyone is entertaining that amount...........

Just buy another 80s Pete and hammer it. They are cheap as now (although still way over priced for their age )
