My thoughts are there are more Safari's around and so more of them mean cheaper price. They are also 24v where the Patrol's are only 12v and as there is not as many Patrols that means you may run into trouble finding some 12v parts.

This is what I found when I had my Patrol anyway. It was much easier scourcing Safari electrical bits than Patrol bits.

I found the Patrols rust more on the roof's as they were built in Australia and Safari's were built in Japan or somewhere like that so different types of metals / rust protection / paints used.

I found pretty much the exact opposite to everything you have just said

Patrols usually have inline pumps too.

And those are overpriced....ish.

They are the same thing depending on the factory it rolled out of, depends on what badge it wore and what voltage the system is...

The 12 volt system was australian.

The safari and grandroad logo's were japanese.

The safari's generally had more options compared to the aussie made ones.

If you have a factory winch your patrol or safari is from surplus military orders as they are produced in military form for asia and middle east countries

i have had 3 patrols all nz new, 91, 92, 95, one had rotary pump 2 had inline, all 12v, one had basic interior no difflock the other 2 had everything and difflocks, one had shocking amounts of rust in the roof only (cut roof off complete and fitted another and made into ute)...ive had 7 safaris and all 24v grandroads, most had rust but small amounts here and there... my personal pref is 12v patrols, the 24v system in safaris can be a pain but easier to get parts for than 12v... havent really noticed a difference in price when i have bought them but have never bought from a stealers car yard..i currently have one of each and both have minor rust but the youngest is 17 years old so i accept it as i just love them.
