Those taupo made ones look the go has anyone used anything simillar in shingle? It would be a lot of work to make one and find out only gets enough bite in clay
The ones on the cruiser site don't look heavy duty enough to me I can't see a 14 inch spade (350mm) holding against a 1400 pound pull at least it wouldn't be dangerous it would pull out before you could take up the slack

The Firmagrip ones from Taupo are good. I've used mine in a few places from beaches to clay and it has been great. They will move in lighter soil, but of you are gently driving as well it's often enough to recover yourself. If you are doing mainly sand or shingle you could make the anchor wider, but then it won't dig in so well in clay. Some of the Outback Challenge guys weld on about 3 inches either side.

Here is a pic of one I took back in June 05 while on a trip up to the Waipara Gorge.
There was another club comming through the gorge and this was spotted on the back of one of the trucks.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

The angle of the plough and the length of the beam make quite a difference to how they dig in.

Will just hold onto it for now, letting bounce around in the back of the hippo
Last 2nd hand one on TM sold for $105 in Auckland, might be worth keeping an eye on the site.....
