WTB CO2 Cylinder

Post by cbfb »

I need a CO2 Cylinder just for odd bits of MIG welding at home, anything considered.

New 5kg ones inc gas are $295 which is a bit over my budget so if anyone has any suggestions would be interested.

Have looked at renting (can only do a year minimum) or disposable bottles, decided in the long-run getting my own refillable bottle is cheaper.

I'm near Palmy North.

if not a lot of welding is anticipated you can buy adaptors for co2 to argoshield regulators, then run sodastream bottles, you get about 15-20 mins from one, which is a bit of welding, best bit no rentals and you can get a refill 24/7. You may need to alter the adaptor to depress the valve on the bottle.

Thanks, I found a sodastream bottle adapter for $60 here that fits onto a CO2 reg, is that what you mean? Gas bottles are $30 new at Briscoes or I might be able to find some on TM.

Did you go to National Gas? I'll ask them before I buy one, but I know they've done it in the past as I spoke to him last week, he said he'd bought and converted a load himself but they're all sold now.

Thanks, I could always see about getting one shipped up if I can't find one locally.

Yes he was very helpful. Hopefully he can do me a fire extinguisher conversion, that is probably the best way to go.

What are their prices like?

I thought there was someone in Rolly doing fills (or was that just acetylene?).

think its something like 20 a month for bottle hire and im not sure about c02 but it costs me about 100 to fill my bottle of argon that i use for both mig and tig. I know i shouldnt really use it for mig but i have a duel regualtor so it saves me needing two bottles and having to hire both..
