Holy heck.....another nearly 12 months have gone ny with almost no work done on the 90 but yesterday and today were spent building a winch bar....

So for those who have forgotten....at the last installment it looked like
Image

So here the winch is first monted up and being the style that it is .... the first 2 mounting bolts are the rear...these are atached to a piece of 45mmx5mm angle welded to the front crossmember. (sorry abou the lack of pic I only had my phone & I can't see a way to access that on the web!!)

Image

OK so here you can see the cradle & sides mounted & the start of the bars (this was this morning when I brough the real camera along...)

Image

Quick jump ahead to all the fab work done & primed up & hooks test fitted.

Image

On this one you can just about make out the rather complex mounting system....4 holes on the front attach to the front of the winch & fairlead also attaches to this. Then 2 bolts down thru each chassis rail & 1 thru from the side....

Image

All painted up & spots attached......just needed to add the hooks....

Image

And a terrible picture to finish.......

Well seeing as I finally got it home I thought I'd better do something with it........so I thought I'd start at the back. The tailgate that I'd got, when I swapped the Station Wagon for the Truck Cab, had rather dodgy looking struts, they'd obviously been broken & rather badly welded back up.

Image

Image

So I pulled a tailgate off an old S2 & guess what....the struts are identical (well actually the whole tailgate is identical! - you gotta love Landies 25 yrs difference & still the same parts!). I also added the fittings to hold it up.

Image

That was last night, tonight I looked at some of the electrics, first up I wired up the spotties, most of the wiring was already in place so just a case of hooking it up. Then time to look at why the horn & indicators weren't working. Obvious really ....... the fuses were the first place to look & whilst the fuses were OK the connectors were not, so a bit of emery paper & all is good, except for the rear left.........that was also full of water and corroded so was also cleaned up for now but needs replacing........LED's would be nice!!!!!

That's all for now folks.......

Now that Nibbys Fawty is Rollin , I think the trophy for longest build thread on ORE goes to Furgus

Must be time for an update , or at least a photo of it sitting neglected in the shed .

Well the good news is I finally have got it back in my own shed, after having stored it at the neighbors since we moved house, I even had a bit of a poke around at it on Sunday but decided to waste my time trying to fit a winchbar onto the 130 instead
