It looks a lot like my old fuel pump has died. Gas is not coming out at the carb but there's plenty at the inline filter just before the pump (replaced the fuilter for the hell of it).
What's involved in switching to an electric fuel pump? They seem a lot cheaper. What kind of flow volume do I want? Vehicle is an FJ40, engine is the 4.2l petrol.

Re: Switching out the fuel pump on an FJ40
Found an electric carburetor pump and installed it. Seems to be working and the old pump seemed not to be - wet one side, dry the other.
Now fuel is getting to the carb but it's not spraying. I've just replaced the old vacuum tubes but no joy. I've been reading around and it seems like a rebuild or a clean might be a good idea. Any advice here? I've never taken a carb apart before.
Edit: wired it in backwards. Also cleaned the carb. All running now.
