I don't know much about cruisers but I am interest in getting one.
I live in Christchurch, lately I have seen a white, 70 series cruiser, long wheel base. Nothing too unusual only it has coil springs in the front. It's like a 4 door troopy.
Any ideas on what model it is? I can't find pictures or information for one like it anywhere.
What model 70?
Re: What model 70?

Like this? If so it is a 78. either a LJ78 (2.4 diesel) or a KZJ78 (3.0 diesel)
Toyota LandCruiser PRADO
Coil Springs all round, Disc Brakes all round
Re: What model 70?
No no not a prado, funny thing though, while looking for a picture to show you I found the first picture I have found of one just like it... It is one of these...

Re: What model 70?
You'll probably find its most likely a 78 series with the turbo v8 diesel

Re: What model 70?
theres heaps of the 70 series in aus and papua new guinea, they still make them new. the troopys are good for loading up 20 people in the back

Re: What model 70?
whats better for 4wding prado 70 series or
land cruiser 70 series?
seems like most lwb 70 series are 1pz so your not really gaining a lot in the engine department by going that way ?
and do you need the bigger diffs, are the prados prone to failure compared to the lc ones ?
prado has coils instead of leafs witch may even be better for 4wding ?
guess it probably comes down to what size you want can probably find a mid wheel base frp top lc in 4.2 , but if going for lwb dosnt seem to be many about
also the prados and the 1pz lwb cruisers seem to be in the 91-94 year range so not as old and beat up as the model before them where is where foul most lickly find a 4.2 cruiser(1hz)

Re: What model 70?
Problem I have with Prado's is the 2.4lt diesel makes them gutless and the 3lt seems to be very prone to cracking. I would be constantly worried about pushing it.
Did some work on a high country station a couple of years ago, we were using a 4.2 LC ute, coil front, and it idled up riverbeds and cruised up gnarly steep hills comfortably and with power to spare. We also used a 2.7 Navarra and seemed to have to through it at things to get where we needed to go. I want to use it hunting up some of the big south island river beds and think a LC would be more reliable than anything ells. People seem to complain about the new V8 diesel LC, and a mate with a 13B always wanted more power. The 4.2 was great.
LWB, kids, camping... 2 doors seems a hassle when you can have 4 but the right MWB would be ok to. I did like the coils in the front of the ute we used.
