Mating a 1UZ to Auto

Post by 1UZ-LUX »

Whats the best way to go about an Auto 1UZ?

Ive got an A343H (hydrolic?) from a V6 surf

And ive also got the factory auto on my 1UZ (vvti) not sure what box this will be? A341f?

Is it best to use the factory 1UZ as it is and whack a tranfer case on the end? Mix and match parts.

Will the 1UZ bell bolt to the Surf Trans?

Whats the best way to go?

82 single cab lux..

surf transfer box (electric)

the bolt pattern on back of the lexus auto is identical to the pattern on the electric transfer box from 3litre diesel surf.. i found all the details for the swap on lextreme..

The other option is you can bolt the 1UZ torque converter and bellhousing to the 3VZ surf box (not sure on others), then it all bolts up, you do have to run dual ECU`s for this though. This is the way I have done it.

You will also have to check that the input shaft is the right length otyherwise you'll have to swap that too.. Havnt done it but going to make a hybrid when I get all the bits..

That might be a better option for you? as i know the wiring can get really tricky.

the wiring is tricky but is doable without spending that sort of money. i running factory ecu and the engine works perfect and the auto works exactly like a factory one. it did take time but i wasn't going to pay what shops wanted to do the job. tonnes of write ups on the net make it easier.

Ok so have done some research and I cant use my lexus box. Its 5 speed from a VVTi apparently its just too hard to make it work for various reasons. Anyone currently running one Id be interested to hear how.....

Gonna use the Surf auto and chuck in the lexus torque converter.

Yep, thats what I did, Make sure that you get the torque converter on the second notch (all the way in) by spinning and pushing it in, otherwise it will wet the bed.
