5omm wrangler lift . which is best. your thoughts please

Post by russty »

hi guys
Ive put a heavy rear tyre carrier on my wrangler and have found that with all this extra weight and age ,that things are sagging (a lot).
I want to put in a 50 mm lift kit and was wondering if anyone out there has liffted theirs.
There is so many brands to chose from that i would like your opinons for and against.
I have a trip coming up in the Mamakus and would like to be taller for that.
My height to the bottom of the gaurds is around 8oo mm with 31/10.5 15s.I would also be interested to know how high yours is to give me a idea on how much i will gain
Cheers and look foward to your comments

At 50mm, OME is probably the most comfortable of the lifts available. The only word of caution is to get the heavy duty rear springs if you have a heavy bar/tyre carrier and hardtop. Otherwise they will sag as well.

There are many other options available out of US, but those will take time to import.

purchased a orv rugged ridge kit the other day and was very impressed with the service i got from offroad specialists.
Started fitting the kit yesterday ,and was all going well till i got to the lower controll arms that wont budge.
After much swearing , skin loss ,and reading forums , i think i`ll burn them out. I dont realy want to but I think I have no choice

So anyway , i moved on to the transfer case lowering only to find the bolts supplied wernt long enough. Not a biggie but was enough to send me to drink.
A fresh start on a new day today doing the rear will hopefully go better.

Im putting a reward out today ,for anyone who is in Hamilton and can remove those troublesom contol arms . just ring 0274502396 if you would like to claim the reward.

thanks,
will try that. I dont like the thought of all the flame and smoke involved with burning them out

Use a hack saw or reciprocating saw between the mount frame and bush to simply cut the bolt. Thats how my axle end bolt came out.

this morning after installing the rear end i had another look at the problem. The boss arrived and had a look he also suggested cutting them out aswell .
I have to get new bolts for the transfer case , so while im there ill get 2 more.
had a mission sorting out the rear track bar. The kit supplies a bracket to raise the mount on the axle.I think mine has been broken or bent at some stage and modified. its good and strong but ill have to rethink the bracket to raise it.
Other than that everthing else went well . it was sitting at 800 under the gaurd lip and now is sitting at 880 , so im more than happy

That track bar bracket might be for lhd TJs. I know ARB do one for RHD TJs on the frame side. Track bars are different for LHD and RHD TJs.
