let the fun begin
let the fun begin
ok so ive gone and bought a 93 realy good condition lwb escudo doesnt look like its ever been off road so its a good one to start with first thing on the list is fit a set of extractors that will be easy enough then looking at a set of a/t tyres as it will be a daily driver as well 215 75 15 looks like a good size and use the standard rims now a few questions ive searced around the site and read bits and pieces im thinking about a 50mm suspesion lift its easy enough for me to fit but just after a little bit of advise with this height lift do you need longer brake hoses ive read about useing commodore shocks ive got some out of a vn is that what you use what do you do with the front struts put a spacer on the top of it and the last thing i can think of at the moment is with this height lift do you need to drop the front diff down id prefer not to have to do that as it seems to counter act the pourpes of lifting it up thanks in advance for any info Duncan
Re: let the fun begin
search "cheap vitara lift" in the forums, there is some guys here with really good detailed build threads that covers their lift, especially the guy up north with the blue one
Re: let the fun begin
got a set of coby extractors turning up tomorrow so after work ill fit them hopefully it will improve it a bit as it seems a bit gutless for a 1600
Re: let the fun begin
I've got a 50mm lift kit from a V6 for sale. It includes:
-Cobra springs 50mm lift.
-Commodore rear shocks with stainless crush tubes. +55mm down travel with 10mm spacer to make it +65mm down travel.
-Stainless hiem joint spacer with bolts.
$450 and it's yours.

Re: let the fun begin
thanks ill keep it in mind just finished puttn extractors on man that front bolt under the manifold is a shit to get off if you cant get the heat shield off now for a test drive still trying to decide what tyres to run dont want to go massive itl just stress other stuff out
Re: let the fun begin
goes well with the extractors now for some tyres on a tight budget so im looking at federal couragia at nankang ft7 or roadstone at neo in215 75 15 then lift suspension probably with cobra springs
Re: let the fun begin
ended up getting some nankangs to try ft7s as the mud tyres seem to get good reviews so i thought theyd be worth a try also got some cobra 40mm springs to put in at the same time
Re: let the fun begin
ok put the springs and tyres on today tyres ballenced up well requiring very little weight they are quiet on the road ill try them off road this weekend fitting rear springs is pretty easy the front ones are a little bit more involved
Re: let the fun begin

Re: let the fun begin
How are you trying to do it? Easiest way is to upload them to an image hosting site like photobucket or imageshack, just follow the instructions on the site.

Re: let the fun begin

Just a small hijack of thread, I have clients on state highway 10 (between kerikeri round about and waipapa) who cant get broadband and have to use dialup. I also have around another 20 clients who cant get broadband and use either farmside or dialup

Dad can't get broadband at his place, which is only 2.3 K's off SH1.
Technology eh?

its quite funny when you tell some people you dont have broadband they are like omg how do you cope going through life with no broad band i just say easy go out side you no the real out side and go and do something its actuly amazing how many things you can do with out it tested out the tyres to day they are better than the van tyres nearly got stuck on some steep grassy stuff needed a bit of a run up may be lower pressures might help i was at 40psi for a start that was to hard went down to 30 that made a noticeable difference im pickn 20 would be better still but wanted to be careful as im tubeless need some longer snocks ive got some vn ones ill measure up also has any one local got a top balljoit spacer i could have a look at amd make a patten off cheers
Re: let the fun begin
20psi is still plenty of pressure for road tyres with no tubes. 15 would be ideal really

Re: let the fun begin
thanks ill give that a go going to try and make either a front bar or a heavy nudge bar for it that i could winch off if i get stuck also be good to try and mount the high lift jack on it ive seen them mounted on the spare but it looks like it might put a bit of stress on the back door
Re: let the fun begin
Looks reasonably tidy, time to get it muddy!

Re: let the fun begin
well took the suzuki to test its intended use finaly i took it into the ureweras to get into some hunting spots the tyres performed realy well providing all the traction i needed susspension handeled it as well it was a mixture of sandy clay rocks and river crossings a few steep up and down bits windy narrow parts that looked like its quite a tight squeeze for the wider 4x4s by the look of the scraping in the banks on the side of the track and the little suzuki went perfect id hate to have had to walk out from were it took us
