Best clutch for Landcruiser 80

Post by cameroncrusoe »

Hi am needing a new clutch in my 96 cruiser. I am towing a 6.8 meter aprox 2.3 ton Caravan. Any ideas as to the best clutch for the job?
Cheers Cameron

I have a HZJ73 (mid wheel base 1hz engine h55f gearbox) and changed std factory clutch with Clutch Industries 4-terrain heavy duty button type clutch. Grips perfectly and good pedal feel but it obviously isnt as well damped as the factory clutch as now get quite noisy gear chatter (rollover noise?) in 3rd/4th/5th gear just in specific rev ranges. Definitley not bearing noise, and only became more apparent after clutch replacement. Does no harm but just a bit annoying. Apparently some do it and some don't. If I was to do it again I'd probably go for factory replacement. Sorry I know its a 70 series not 80 series, but just thought I'd share my experience especially after the post above. Cheers.
