Hey Guys,
Apologies if this has been done to death but couldn't find anything using the search function.
I'm about to build a set of bars for my Surf was going to use 41.3 OD 2mm walled tubing but wondered if anyone had suggestions on whether there was better sizes I should be using for the front bars as well as a set of sliders.
Cheers

It all comes down to your budget and design plus aesthetic.
2mm wall for sliders you'd think would be bendo mcCrush-a-lots..
What type of front ya makin? Pics? Also, what kind of pedalling ya gonna do/into? Could use the 2mm in parts of the bar, supplementing the main structure possibly.

Re: Tubing sizing for bullbars and sliders
Have priced up some 48 X 3.2mm Med pipe for the main bar and slider and 35 X 2mm pipe for bracing etc.
Was going to build a winch bar but have decided that I don't really need a winch so just bars for swatting stuff out of the way and jacking points for the highlift.

I tend to go with Tom on this one. 32mm is the way to go. You will be quite suprised how much pain pipe will take. If your not intending on using a winch then I wouldnt imagine the trails being in the "tuff truck" sort of range. Good design will allow you to run smaller/lighter tube weather its round or box. I have seen a nice low profile set made from 25x50 box for a KZN185. They get used for highlift and are only mounted on two places. Anyway good luck with the build.

Re: Tubing sizing for bullbars and sliders
Just been down doing a bit of shoping at Steel and Tube and picked up a length of 48.3 OD X 3.2MM and by popular opinion a length of 32NB X 3.2MM
I tell ya 6.5mtrs only just fits on the roof racks with a ton of over hang front and rear of my little surf.
Although this isn't going to be a hell bush basher, I think you're right Crash so I think I'll go back to the original plan and make provisions for a winch mount.
Thanks for all the input guys, I'll try and remember to stap a few pics along the way.

If you work out how long you want the pipe they will cut it down for you.
Might as well make it a winch bar saves fu@king about latter on cos you changed your mind.
