Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
wtf!
this is beond a joke, maybe time to get the media involved, this might make chch police take notice and do something about this,or then again it might not
.f@#ing thieving scabs i hope someone catches them in the act

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
would almost be worth starting up our own vigilantes, seem like it would be doing more than the chch police.
There definitly needs to be a bait truck set up, something nice and shiney.
And by the looks ok it i dont think the parts are staying in new zealand, are there any other contries that have a demand for safari gear?

This seems to be about the only thing left to do, Seems crazy a new truck getting taken every week!
Dont forget to insure your trucks too!

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
sorry to hear mate, sounds like it was cased out, hope she turns up with minimal damage, unfortunately this is becoming a day to day occurance, high demand for parts in middle east i believe, for the small price of an alarm/immobiliser, its deifinately worth it, plus insurance on the side, at least your pocket wont be so empty, hope it turns up somewhere!
Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
yea similar to toyotas, high demand in middle east. labour is cheap there but parts are very expensive. they have factorys that make new body shells and then they build whole trucks by using 2nd hand parts and running gear. i have a mate who legitimatley wrecks trucks up north and sends over containers crammed full of parts. So there must be a syndicate operating down here doing a similar thing but with dodgy stolen trucks

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
ok just rung chch police about the all the 4wds being stolen lately, and the mentioned that there could possibly be an international crime ring involved(i think most of us have heard about 4wds being cut up and put into containers for the middle east)they dont seem interested at all,in fact they had a bit of an attatude that i had rang them
also asked if they could give me the number of 4wds stolen this year in chch, no not too keen on that, have to go through a mile of red tape it seems
so what do you do if the police arn't interested? maybe rally together and aproach them as a group? and i am aware that they have there hands full since the quake, but come on car theft is a crime isnt it? i thought the police were there to fight crime?more than a bit slack i think,no wonder there is so many 4wds being stolen in and around chch the thiefing scumbags must think they have a green light

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
I think maybe a rally in christchurch is in order?
how many thousand people will be able to march around?
I think if we did something like that we would be able to spark up some attention.
or maybe we all need to start breaking into random warehouses all over the place to find them.
But i definitly think there is something going on here that is a little bit more major than some organised crime, and if the parts are heading over to asia i think that sounds about right.
Maybe its time to write to places like target, newspapers etc?

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
according to the police website about 100 trucks have been stolen in the last 6 months - mostly older Toyota and Nissan trucks - from the Canterbury region.
edit: for perspective the entire Auckland region has had about 90 stolen

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
all this talk of trucks getting stolen made me get an alarm, hopefully its enough to keep them away, need some more GPS tracking, that will fu*k em if one gets stolen
Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
Combined Clubs made an approach to the Police earlier this yr...they claimed there was no an issue & advised 4wd owners to do the usual.
Park off the rd , under street lights bla bla bla.
Unless you have some concrete info they will not get off there ass.
I personally spoke to a D that i know he basically said the same ..i would need some rego numbers or vin number & where they are & they might be able to do something.

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
thats the sort of information we need to know to get somewhere, dont talk to the guys in the office, talk to the guy that tells them what to do, youll get somewhere that way.

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
they can check containers going out too. But its only random, as is the checks coming in. A lot of the time the car parts are listed as car parts and they check them, yeap car parts, so off they go on there merry way. Very hard to check if parts are stolen or not., especially if you have 50 intake manifolds, 20 doors etc.

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
Been thinking too.
People who live in Christchurch and people who have had trucks stolen, write a letter to the police minister the police chief and customs stating your concerns over the amount of trucks that have been stolen lately and that you fear that the parts are going overseas and could you they please do a joint investigation into finding out if they are etc.
They have caught people before now by customs searching containers leaving New Zealand, so it certainly can happen. I know this as my mum is and has been a customs broker for the past 30+ years
Just an idea anyway, seems like it could work if enough people write in

i think that is definitly the way to go, and if people start doing things to the parts like putting there own serial numbers on them it will be easier.

Was thinking same, a draft letter could be properly written up and posted on here, people can modify or add some points...print it off and send it to the address of someone in parliament, police or whoever. Just have the relevant name and address details listed in this thread.

You can also use the system of micro dots, were your rego is on the micro dot which is then sprayed on your truck is certain places.
I think this is being incorporated to new car's that come in, I dont know if this system is very effective tho.

You used to pull up in the local shopping centre years ago and someone would charge you $30 to micro dot your plate number on all the glass.
Haven't seen that done for years though.

Re: nissan safari kingsroad stolen
yep i agree with licooln writing to the police minister might be the way to go,a little bit harder to ignore than a phone call to chch police, and the more people that write in the better i say.if the 100 or so people that have had their trucks stolen in the last 6 months down there write in then im sure someone will take notice.......maybe
what about all the 4wd clubs in nz writing in voicing there concern?cant be a bad thing can it?and around 100 trucks stolen in 6 months in and around chch
wtf there is 365 days in a year do the math,if this is not a problem like they(chch police)say then what is?
