1992 TD27

Post by BogBoy »

Hey all

Been searching around for the valve clearances of the TD27 engine

I have found them but now I need to know how to find out when the piston is on the compression stroke, I tried the finger over the glow plug hole with no luck plus I cant get a socket onto the front pulley so I'm winding it over using the power steer pulley

Can some one tell me what I need to do :D

Take the rocker cover off, and wind by hand till number 4 is rocking and at that crank timing mark it is at No1 firing.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Hey all just re-did lifters as they seemed a bit noiesy

Came across some info as they are still noisey...

1992 td27 is 0.35 mm and 1994 td27 is 0.25 mm.
which should I use?

1992= silver top. 1994+= black top. The less the clearance the less willing it is to rev out

Just a thought, check the rocker arms arent worn out, the valve heads have a tendancey to wear into the rocker and make them noisey even if they apear to adjusted corectly. Mine are geting pretty stuffed but the local engine reconditioner told me that they can be skimmed.
