Hi there all! I am new to this site but not to 4wding. A mate introduced me to this site(Hi Pinky!).
I have a 91 Navara double cab with canopy I purchased a year and a half ago for the purpose of bashing about on the farm at home, but it has become my everyday drive to work in town vehicle, and it seems to go alright. I havent had it stuck yet but have knocked over a few of the smaller trees on the forestry block we graze.
The only real things I have done to it are putting spot lights on the bullbar and attaching a tow hook to the front(to pull Dad's Mitsi out backwards  ). The clutch has just been replaced at the same time as the gearbox which decided 5th and reverse were optional. There is an occasional whine in the front that sort of sounds like a fan cutting in and out and it only does it on hot days and long 2wd trips. I guess I will find out what it is when it breaks!!!!!!!!
If it aint broke, don´t fix it

Another Nissan Pathy owner, 94 V6, Old Man Emu suspension, snorkel, LSD, Scorpion MT's and Warn manual hubs. Next on the list, 40mm suspensionlift, lockrite diff lock in the front and barwork front, rear and sides. Look under the Central Otago Jan 05 photo album. A damn good capable truck. Has seen many a tough south island track and still looking for more.

Hi all other Nissan Owners. I have a Terrano, 1995. I've done a body lift and uprated the suspension and run Mud Tyres.
I find that the Terrano is a great wagon and suits my requirements for 4wding and day to day running.

Beano,
yes there are some mods under the bonnet and wheelarch to accomodate the snorkel. It is for a deseil engine so fits the body just fine. There were three intakes into the air box, none of which would do for the snorkel. Blocked all of these off and made a new one. Got some flexible reinforced rubber pipe to go from the snorkel (in the wheel arch) to the airbox. Sealed it all with RTV, that black crap works so well at keeping water out. The brand is an airflow I think, can't really remember and it hasn't got the brand stamped all over it. Have totally waterptoofed the engine now and she can go totally under without missing a beat. Not bad for a petrol. Next trick is to fit two HiCLONE devices into the air intake before the airflow meter to improve performance and economy, 15-20% I am told.

Hi ya...new to this site..

I have a 92 LWB GQ 4.2 with an after market Turbo Fitted.

2.5 inch exhaust
ARB front locker/Air comp (rear has slippery)
35 in Centerpides
50mm Spring Lift
50mm Body lift
Snorkel
PTO off my shorty
After Market front and rear bars

Basically my Mon-Fri truck (on AT's) which the wife uses most of the time but I use for hunting etc.

Still have a 89 shorty (factory rear diff lock) as well...this was kept while I picked all the Weka bits off it.

Good to see a few keen hippo owners....

Nissan Owners

Post by Tommo »

Another one that's new to the site and computers....

We have a 88 GQ SWB that we have owned for about 7 years
We have slowly obtained the following mods;
Fr & Rr ARB Lockers,
AXT Turbo.
50mm body lift and 50mm in the springs,
32in BFG for most of the time and 35 in Simexs for the special trips that our club runs,

One big improvement we were able to make was to push the PTO winch back about 85 mm, which seems to stop it acting like a grader the whole time,

Have a short list of items on the wish list which might get purchased this year, depends on the finances I guess...

Cheers Tommo

Winch Mods

Post by Tommo »

As far as the winch goes, this mod was done once the 50 mm body lift was in place.

Simply modified the mounting brackets front and rear of the winch by extending them so that when it's pushed back, they were able to be lined up with the chasis rails.

Shorten the PTO shaft by cutting in front of the universal ( I made the mistake of cutting the area rear of the UJ and then had to modify the crossmember)

Weld the shaft together (straight), trim the grill and its done...

As I said we took about 85 mm of the chassis rails and because they bolt on, it didn't require certification

Then you can get a new bullbar made to suit.....

Ah the missing link!!!
50mm body lift, shoulda thought of that one.
Here i was with the tape measure scratching my head, thinking no way, how tha hell would you do that!!!!!
No body lift, and no intention of getting one, so i may have to be more creative with this one.
Cheers for that any way!!!!
Pete.

Hey there all, although I have been watching this site for a while, I thought I too should introduce myself as a proud Nissan owner.

I have a 95 Terrano, TD27, Auto.
The only mods done to it are an Airflow snorkel, (had heaps of problems with this comming un-joined in the inner guard but I think it is solved now), a Uni-Filter and a suspension lift.

Don't think I'll bother with a Body lift, but will be in the market for some new feet next year as the origional "Winter Duelers" that came with it are getting a little low in the tread area. There are too many choices in this area. :?

I must say that I have been rather impressed with these tyres as thay have not let me down too much so far, having done severel tracks in the Reefton area where others with muddys did manage to get stuck. Maybee I'm not adventurous enough, although shingle riverbeds have been a different story, esp the Ashley. These trucks are not very water-tight are they?

Cheers all, Pete.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Hi guys,

Fell in love driving two of my mates semi-modded SWBs and had to go Safari but due fishing/diving/boating hobbies opted LWB (1991). Already had front bullbars and all Ive managed to do so far is tidy up some 'lectrics, few new ciggy plugs for spots and what not. Love it to bits though.

'Bout how much will these lifts cost (suspension/body) (still a bit left behind by my oppo at the mo')

Other mods on the way inc Winch, snorkel and muds but spend alot of time away so have to pick my moments.

Cheers, not posting any phots till I have something to show ;)

Yeah , they are a great vehicle
I wouldn't get to hung up on manual or auto, both are very good in the reliability stakes, and you simply adjust your driving style to suit.

Looking at both the manual or auto means you get a wider choice of vehicles, so there for a better chance of finding one that is in really good condition for $$$$ value.
