Hi, anyone got a front crankshaft pulley / harmonic balancer for a jeep 95 4l engine, just had my pulley lunch itself tonight
Or has anyone got any suggestions who has these / best price might be found in Auckland as i want to be running for Saturday night run at woodhill if possible
As luck would go i was in my drive way when it separated.... better there rahter then while buried somewhere! Was not aware these are common to fail until my XJ jeep buddy came over tonight and said his one had gone also and then googled how common this was?
cheers waza

Re: Jeep harmonic balancer / pulley 4L 1995 any suggestions
Ok got it sorted and learnt a lot in the process!
Best price seems to be Off Road Specialites but cheaper again to ship from the US if you want the wait.
The balancer can be removed from below without removing the radiator or fans. Just remove the bash plate. Definately need a crows foot tri bolt puller and googling the replacement process gave some tips. Use a longer bolt with socket as a spacer when refitting the balancer so it pulls in evenly and ensure you oil the sharft surfaces so it glides in to place without stuffing seal. replace seal at same time to save any grief
The jap import jeep has a serpentine belt that is a mongrel to replace the trick being wind it over all pulleys including the tensioner leave alternator pulley to last and slip it on to this when tensioner is pushed in.
I found RHD jap import jeeps are totally different set up for pulleys and belts to USA jeeps and seem to have etra idler pulley so no usa manual info matches and idler pulley parts are rare to find in listings as did these at same time as bearings were noisey.

Yep i have it sussed now - and no issue next time but had me stuffed for a bit trying what was the easiest way. Probably not helped that the new tensioner pulley was a few mm bigger so was heaving to get it on without damage to the belt.
