redrocks would be a good area to get to know your truck but we will need some bigger vehicles to come if your going to come dont think the zuk will pull you out

Yep know what you mean but as the deadwood was just there it might be fun and as truckie is untested after being cooked i like the idea of being able to have safe storage somewhere close by. Also there are some people who have not had there Whales offroad yet and Devils gate is a bit scratchy at the moment. The last thing we need is a beached whale and only suzukis to recover it

stinky wrote:Love to do the 10hour track but its Rodgers trip so that means 24hours and Z wouldnt like that plus we dont know if Truckie is up for it yet got to be a bit gentle in case weve missed something. Rod the deadwood was at aotea this year
We are going in about 730, roger has to be in masterton at 6pm so will be out early (famous last words). Fair enough though the 10hr isnt the best place to take an untested truck.

doddzee wrote:10hr track is in the akkas, steep, rutted, muddy, bogs and alot of trees to hug. You will do panel damage. I meant it when i said drag you through.
Its a club 4x4 trip so you would have to meet CCVC safety requirements.
sounds good but what are the requirements?

80 series tow bus towing a redneck ass vitara

Safety & Trip Requirments
Club 4x4 Requirements
You would have to also ring and book in with the trip leader
Non members can come if you are a member of annother club (ORE) and have experence
Tow hooks front and rear
Recovery strop, shovel
First aid kit, fire extinguisher
Roll bar/cage for all soft/open tops
Low ratio gearbox
Club radio or PRS required
Roll bar/cage recommended all vehicles
Good mud tyres essential
Winch required
Extra recovery gear an advantage
Club 4x4 Requirements
Club 4x4:
Description: Challenging trips, for experienced drivers. There will be steep and challenging terrain, modestly deep water and mud, likelihood of bush marks.
Drivers: Must have experience beyond that required for Shiny 4x4 trips, including water crossings and vehicle recovery.
Members: These trips are for members only. Prospective members and visitors are welcome if they can demonstrate to the Trip Leader they are members of another club and have adequate experience.
Vehicles: Must have mud tyres, tow hooks and all the required equipment per the club’s document "Vehicle Safety & Equipment Inspections". This applies to all vehicles on the trip. Accessories such as high-lift jacks, externally mounted spare tyre, bush bars and multiple jacking points are of advantage. Winches are often particularly useful. Generally a short wheelbase vehicle is better suited for the tight tracks. All open or soft-top vehicles must have a roll bar or roll cage.

You would probly get away going in there with out a winch on a zuk as there will be pleanty of V8s to pull you around
Trip leader probly wouldnt be to keen on taking an inexperenced person there though last time he did that they were there till 4am and the guys pajero didnt have many straight panels left on it
Funniest thing was that they got to the last bog and the guy didnt wanna go through it because he would get his subs wet. Trip leaders reaction was do you want be a boy racer or a 4wder? he ended up going through the bog. Havent seen him since though

If you are going on Rogers CCVC Trip then it would pay to book with the Trip Leader Roger 021 424 351 rather than just turn up, When speaking to him you hould mention that you are part of ORE Assn and a 4wd assn club (any hassles let me know and I can have a chat to Roger for you..or mention me).
Be aware that going on other club trips you fall under their rules and regulations ie proper towhooks mounted to CCVC specs etc. Expect damage on Rogers trip !!!!
