Re: How much to Re- register
need new brake shoes and discs,
seat belts, cert will be 540ish,
maybe cheaper to register it as a home built using a hilux chassi

Re: How much to Re- register
first you will need to take it to a compliance centre thatll be about $500
they will check it over, kinda like a hard out WOF where they take parts off etc
if it is found to have had any body repairs done in the past you will need a repair certification that'll set you back another $400ish + any repairs needed
you will also need a modification cert for the engine which will cost another $500 + any supporting mods that need to be done.
then you have all of the parts that fail the inspection that you will need to buy and replace, i would set aside $1000 for all of that
so factor that you will need to spend about $2-3000 on-top of purchase price

Re: How much to Re- register
if its got all the right bits on it and is selling for the right price it could still be worth buying for the bling to swap over to a legal truck

Re: How much to Re- register
I went through this process with an old Landy a few years back and swore never to do it again. Unless you getting it really cheap I wouldn't bother. Wait until something else comes up.

Hey Al,
As you know we did this on the wifes V8 fairmont recently.
It cost
$515 for compliance
$430 for the plates and 6 months rego (different for lower cc vehicles)
$345 engineers cert (if there is rust repairs or chassis repairs)
This would probably need a mod cert (Shane Speight is the man in Whangarei) who would do this. roughly another $500
+ anything they find in the compliance.
For us it was just the rear brake rotors so cheap and easy process for us.
Only problem we ran into was the VTNZ in Whangarei isnt the friendliest place to deal with and they slowed the whole process down but as they are the only place you can take it north of Auckland we just had to bite our tounge and get it all done first before we complained haha.
If its something your going to keep for a while I would go for it.
We paid $3,200 for our one (de-regd) which some will say is too much but as we dont plan on selling it anytime soon I dont see the problem with paying more for a de-regd car.

Re: How much to Re- register
go see the jokers that do this for a living! as a complete polar opposite to the huge money all these other jokers are saying, a goo dmate of mine got me to help him recomply an 80s bmw recently. didn't cost him nearly as much, didn't need to replace any brake stuff, or belts, and the inspection was only slightly harsher than a normal wof (they didn't pull trim and shit off)
If the vehicle was a used import then it gets abit more hardout.

Re: How much to Re- register
newer than 91 is harder, if it was a older than 91 and de regd because of lapsed rego then it will be easy as to go through, as said above, just a stricter WoF,
If it was de reg due to damage then it gets harder to re reg.
