Red Rocks it is then. I'm pretty sure it should be ok. Last time I was there a Honda Civic came bouncing over the gate in front of us with 4 guys and their dive gear in it! Admittedly that was a few months ago.

Let's just do RR this time and we'll organise a trip that requires access another time with a bit more notice.

I am going to go and see Stinky tomorrow and pick up a tow hook for the front. Should just bolt straight on to the winch bar. Then I'll dig the fire extinguisher, first aid kit and EPIRB out of the boat and we should be all set.

I should mention that I will be bringing along the fambly. Wife and two young kids. Is anyone else??

Have we put a time on it yet? I need to be back to launch the boat in the avo, by about 5pm, for the fireworks. So how about a 10am at the carpark?

OK Mr Offroader its your trip...so that makes you the Trip leader....what time are we meeting, what do we need to bring, what safety gear and equipment do we need, if you ask Stinky nicely he will be your assistant trip leader....A quick drivers briefing would be good as well....(point out it is a ORE trip only, no firearms or booze to be safe) dogs are ok I think round there

Brilliant idea! I'll throw my gear in too. Paua on the BBQ for lunch... mmmmm

Will anyone have a spare seat or two? Thinking of inviting my bro and (maybe, if she's keen) his wife.

ore trip only? what does that mean?

I was meaning an ORE trio instead of an ORE assn Trip, not ORE members only

Ain't those a 7 seater? :) you can fit one more in

Would suggest a 9.30 meeting time / Drivers briefing & vehicle check at 9.45 and Trip start at 10.00am

Also I think from memory the Bowl area and the creek part you want to go up is actually private land so we should't be going in there without permission...am checking.

Also people need to stick to the "track" in places and keep off the dunes as they contain fragile ecosystems ...if you see people driving on them stop them.....or take down their rego's etc other area's are ok to play in.....

I'll be going...and there will be a spare seat...the Daihatsu doesn't get stuck round there....

[Putting on my Welly Rep hat]

ok this is what I have been advised regarding the bowl area and the creek/stream above it.

"It all belongs to Terawhiti Station, Permission required but un-named 4x4 people give the whole fraternity a bad name by chargeing up there with out permission. Also, the Terawhiti Station shepherds house overlooks that stream as soon as they are past the training area so anyone operating in that area will be observed."

If you want to go up there we need permission...this includes the bowl area as well.....How many people are interested in going up there...as I can contact the Terewhiti guy and ask they may ask for land access fees for this as well....otherwise we need to stay out of there.

People seem to want to do some fishing etc anyway so on the beach there is a good spot.....

I have had a chat to a couple of people....the people I was asking are in CCVC who seem to know what is where and who owns stuff....I can dig deeper if required.

My advice would be to stay out of there until its confirmed as we risk pi55ing off the other local clubs (which I'm working on setting up ORE relationships with) and the Terewhiti landowners who may or may not own that land. As a rule if you aren't sure don't go in there.

As for the drivers briefing etc would sugges a quick look who has and hasn't got hooks and a quick stay in convoy and keep out of the danger area during a recovery etc basic stuff.....

Sorry just need to mention that Red Rocks is considered by the police as a legal road so legally Drivers need licences, and trucks need WOF's and to be registered. I have heard they are out there on rare occasions.....

This is for your information only do with it what you want... :o

but stranger things have happened...
