Yep or all your drive will go to thew front.
Get a kit and do it properly. From the guys I have spoken to who done the 2wd conversion it is a bloody good mod, ie they love it.

Hi all and sorry (no I'm not  ) to thread jump, what are you trying to achieve by part timing :?:   is it saving wear and tear, economy or ------ ?. Grant can the 90# Prado's be changed to 2WD :?: not that I would bother I love the way mine hangs on to the road when pushed to the max  , shingle and wet roads have a lot of GO FAST car drivers EYES glued to the rear vision mirror  ,

Hey fitzy. Not sure if there is a kit for the 90 series, but you can just put a kzn185 surf transfer case on and that will do the trick. Actually it should have been done at the factory as this gives the option of allwheel drive and part time. Not sure about free wheel hubs on it though......

Best you try and find someone in Melbourne and purcahse it there or you will be raped by the chch agent. I am pretty sure I got the last one for a mate for around $530 landed.
If you ring/email them, they will just put you to the closest agent. If you have an address that you can send them to in Aussie it saves all that BS.
