hey all. Hope all had a good xmas.
Question the electrically minded.Me i'm not to good working with something i can't see.
Have got the battery mounted in the boot in the wifes toy and after a week or so it starts to sound like its half charged when starting it.
Have had alternator rebuilt and has a big 760cca battery. has 50mm cable running frount to back(bout 2-2.5m long).
All the factroy stuff is just bolted to a brass post and the cable runs from there to the back
All this was done by the previous owner to make room for the w/a cooler mounted were the battery would be.
Question is should the charge wire from the alternator run straight to the battery or will it be alright as is and there something else wrong?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Re: battery charging issues
Cant see why it wont work ok...
Things you need to check.
Voltage at battery (not running) 12v ish
Voltage at battery (engine running) 14v ish
That will tell you if the Alternator is working...
Next is to check how many amps are being drawn when off...
Could have some parasitic voltage draw....
Also the battery could be on the way out...

Re: battery charging issues
also check the voltage output at the alternator to see if there is a significant drop between there and the battery.
Re: battery charging issues
you won't get any charging volt drop with that size cable, but check all connections are ok. if there is any volt drop it will be the connections.
depending on what the toy is and size of starter motor it has, the cable may be to small for the length.
also check you not got anything draining the battery.
